How is it assessed?

Each unit has a set of standards that must be met by the candidate in order to successfully achieve that unit. Candidates are assessed against these standards by carrying out a set number of tasks or activities. For example, one of the components of the unit 'Preparing to Volunteer' is: 'Negotiate own role as a volunteer'.

Example evidence:

Notes or a tape recording of a discussion between the volunteer and the volunteer involving organisation (or Volunteer Centre) about what the volunteer hopes to give and gain through volunteering.
Volunteer agreement between the volunteer and the volunteer involving organisation.
Minutes or tape recording of a meeting between the volunteer and his supervisor where tasks are agreed.

Participants will be individually supported in the collection of evidence for their portfolio by the course tutors and their placement supervisors. There will be no examinations or tests.
