This important initiative will support arts organisations funded by the Arts Council to develop appropriate and necessary Child Protection policies and guidelines.
The Volunteer Development Agency is able to provide this training through an award received from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland's Lottery Business Support Programme. This training initiative will take place in 2007-2008.
To read more about each course go to the Training Calendar.
All training is participative and includes presentation, group work and scenarios/case studies.
"As the key development organisation for the arts in Northern Ireland, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland believes that the welfare of the child, young person and vulnerable adult is paramount. All children, young people and vulnerable adults, whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious beliefs and/or sexual identity, have the right to feel safe and respected and have a positive experience while taking part in arts programmes.
We acknowledge that all suspicions and allegations of abuse should be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately and that staff in arts organisations (paid and unpaid) should be clear on how to respond appropriately.
We seek to promote a positive ethos of collaborative work between the professional arts sector and children, young people and vulnerable adults. To this end, we are pleased to be able to support the Volunteer Development Agency to undertake this important and relevant training initiative with the arts sector across Northern Ireland. We encourage arts organisations which have been contacted by the Volunteer Development Agency to participate."
