2012 Project

The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games present a unique opportunity to inspire and create a new generation of volunteers in Northern Ireland - in sport and more widely within their community. The Agency is determined for the volunteering spirit to spread wider than the Games themselves. The London Organising Committee Olympic Games (LOCOG) is currently planning their volunteer programme and recruitment will start in 2010. With their pledge to recruit from right across the UK and from all sectors of the community we are determined that Northern Ireland will play an active part to bring passion, enthusiasm and energy to the Games.

The vision of the NI Volunteer Strategy is to “involve, recognize and maximize the contribution of volunteers as part of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games as a catalyst for inspiring increased volunteering”.
