About the Organisation
Castle Ward is a magnificent 18th Century Irish country house set in a walled demesne of 840 acres in County Down. The beautiful and historic setting is situated beside Strangford Lough, about seven miles from Downpatrick, two miles from Strangford and 30 miles from Belfast.
Opportunities Available
Volunteer Room Guides are required. The open house season begins with daily self-guided tours from Saturday 13 March. The house will be open from 11am to 5pm daily until 31 October.
Experience and Skills Required
Friendly people who have an interest in history or built heritage and enjoy engaging with the visiting public. In return Castle Ward offers a stimulating work environment within the house, the opportunity to help raise the level of visitor enjoyment by offering a welcoming approach and good knowledge of the house and family history.
Application Details
Volunteer accommodation is available on the estate. The accommodation on offer is in exchange for five working days of volunteering within the house. If you have 6.5 hours to offer a day or two per week, or even if you have less time to offer contact the property or the House Stewart.
