Councils Endorse Role of Volunteers

Volunteer Now, the lead organisation for volunteering in Northern Ireland has recognised the support of a number of Councils for volunteering as part of the European Year of Volunteering 2011.

Wendy Osborne OBE, Chief Executive, Volunteer Now said, “We have received a most positive response from Councils across Northern Ireland during the Year.  As part of the legacy of the European Year of Volunteering, we are delighted that, to date, 17 Councils have endorsed the importance of volunteering by valuing the positive contribution made by volunteers to creating a vibrant community life and recognising that such civic engagement empowers individuals and develops communities.”
